I Will Rise

“No matter what trials and challenges you have faced, we all have within us the ability to trust, to use discipline and strength of character to create the life we choose. Regardless of naysayers, regardless of others opinions.  Own yourself, own your life.  Live with freedom.  It is your right”.

Painting elements inspired by the life of Johnny Cohen.

What resonated for me following Johnny's interview was not only his deep love for his family - past and present, he would do anything to protect them, but his continue striving for a sense of peace and solid ground.  Interestingly too was his strong motivation to make a difference and to reconnect people to moments of value in their lives.  From the very tumultuous past he has had, to establishing an international company that has the focus of bringing peoples lives to life through tattoo art....it was essential I represent that in his painting.  The Thai wording means 'freedom', particularly in terms of freedom from incarceration.  The lines on the left - bars of a cell that could not hold him.  The integration of leopard spots reinforces the adage of whether a leopard can change it's spots.  Johnny has not let doubt, distrust or fear of rejection hold him back. He has forged ahead to build the legacy he wants to leave.  The use of the colour black is representative of his power and confidence to do so.  Johnny will continue to be a fighting force, driven by a desire to bring a sense of peace to others.
