Artist Inspiration:

Leila is so damn charismatic.  Her challenges with dyslexia, and her committment to bring to light the dark challenges of rural suicide inspires me greatly.  The moody sky represents the challenges she faced at school with her reading and writing, along with the emotional turmoil felt by people who are struggling with mental health.  The book represents how Leila has overcome, and in fact inspite of her dyslexia has written, acted in and produced a movie.  Leila proves that you can achieve whatever you choose to focus on, and nothing can stop you.  And that anyone can write their own life story, that we can truimph, even when it feels so many obstacles and challenges in your way. The yellow field is inspired by the annual charily lunch she facilitates in a Canola field.  And that yellow is Leilas favourite colour.   The hills in the background are an abstraction of Leila and her husbands own farm skyline.    Leila is an optimistic woman on a mission, who's passion for helping her community is infectious.  She brings so much joy, and this piece was painted to showcase this proud strength and joyousness about her.

• Black: authority, strength, confident, strong will.   
  
• Grey: give inner strength, approachable, stable, solid
