Artist Self Portrait

Inspiration:

I experience life in vivid colour.  My dark days are very dark, my great days shine luminously bright.  This self portrait is a reminder that we can hold onto the light around us, and that our challenging times are only but a part of our journey.  As someone who experienced bullying, sexual assault and rape through my teens I know that these actions have an indelible impact on a person.  At a cellular level we feel it.  Our bodies respond accordingly, working endlessly to protect us from more pain.  Yet, no matter how someone tried to hold me down in life, I realised, it was up to me.  I was the one who decided I was worthy to shine, and how much.  It was up to me to see life in the joyous, colourful way that I do.  And to let that optimism inspire others.

Colour Inspiration:

• White: clarity, purity, anything is possible, wholeness, opens the way, encouraging.  
• Grey: dignified, solid, composed, stable, give inner strength.
• Blue: trust, leadership, nurturing.
• Black: authority, luxury, confidence
