I See You

“Find a way to love yourself unconditionally as a priority and see in yourself what others do.  So that you may then show, and give that love to others.  ”.

Painting inspired by the life of Tracey Horton.

Tracey had an incredibly abusive childhood.  Yet, though so much of her early story was created through pain, what struck me the most was her immense capacity to love. A capacity that began to show with meeting Paul. Not an easy road, but one that she chose to embrace and embody.  Since the age of 16yrs, she has had a continued love affair with the man who was the first person to show her unconditional love.  So I see her life journey as a love story.  One that has created 14 beautiful souls (4 kids and 10 grandkids), one that is a testament to being able to see and grow through so much trauma to living a whole and heartfelt life.  The stars in the sky represent each of the kids and grandkids, the couple  - deep in conversation, painted in silhouette to represent the shadows and mask that Tracey lived in for years, with bursts of light coming through, breaking the barriers. The table is a symbol of not only one of Tracey's earliest and most challenging abuse memories, but what I also see as a place of triumph.  Where she sits in love with her husband and her family.  Where she can sit with a beautiful glass of wine to decompress and absorb the day.  The table to me is a symbol of Tracey overcoming what was forced upon her, and taking her power back in an elegant and open way. The colours reflect the transformation that Tracey has experienced throughout her life, and the message that opportunities to transform your life exists for everyone.  That it is totally possible to embrace love for yourself and leave a legacy by showing that love to others.  Tracey embodies what you can achieve when you lead from love.
